DBV 2-6-14

"Then Jesus’ mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call Him. A crowd was sitting around Him, and they told Him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.” “Who are my mother and my brothers?” He asked. Then He looked at those seated in a circle around Him and said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” – Mark 3:31-35 (NIV)

Thoughts: Wow. I've never read this verse before. Pretty powerful that Jesus acknowledged not just the parents and relatives God fated to be related to Him by blood but also His friends and those who choose to be close to Him as one family united under God.

Ideally through church and faith and life ALL people should be considered Family. We treat family different because we often give them more room to be themselves and stick together "through thick and thin" no matter what. If we treated everyone like family there'd be more patience and forgiveness and acceptance (at least ideally) among people -which is God's true intention for mankind.
