DBV 2-14-14

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away."– 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)

Thoughts: Not sure about the last sentence, but everything else rings true for the Ideal of Love. Love definitely finds a way to forgive and accept things. It is honest. It has no reason to brag -only celebrate. It would never delight in evil. It would always hope and always trust. I can see love "stilling tongues" by making people who gossip or spread false words shut up like when Susan Boyle sang.

Not sure whether the verse is saying "love will make knowledge will pass away/become useless". Love = Truth which trumps "finite facts" and know-it-alls in general.

Not sure whether the verse is saying "love will cease all prophecies". Love ensures trust and faith in all things, including the future, making concerns for, worry about, and visions of the future unnecessary and obsolete.
