“It is written,” He said to them, “‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’” – Matthew 21:13 (NIV)
Thoughts: Jesus said this when men were conducting business in a temple and were letting people buy the animals they would later sacrifice -thereby turning an act of faith into a monetary transaction. Jesus was angered and insulted by their actions.
I think it's interesting He calls them robbers because:
1. They were taking people's money
2. They were robbing them of true faith/spiritual connection to God
You have to know the difference between doing something arbitrarily out of obligation and doing something genuine out of honest intention.
