The Environment

There are these things called trees. As it turns out there’s a whole forests of them in various countries including South America. It rains a lot there (my guess is the rain clouds get stuck in the trees). Trees make wood. Actually trees are wood. Wood makes all sorts of paper, like “towel” and “toilet” and “writing”… so people chop down the trees in the forests. After the trees are taken out, the animals who lived in them die. Oh well. The rain is freed! And no longer stays in that area. The land dries up and can no longer sustain vegetation, creating deserts in some cases.

Meanwhile the wind currents, rain, and other weather conditions adjust to the changes. The fresh-to-salt water ratio is altered as well as ocean currents patterns. Tsunamis, floods, hurricanes are some side effects of this. Then of course there’s the way the coasts are affected as a result of these effects… But people further inland away from the coasts don’t have to worry.

But the weather does tend to change… because the coastal weather moves inland with its rain and wind. When the weather is shifted, these things called seasons –extended periods of weather patterns- also change. For instance winter turns to spring. Only instead of it happening 3 months later, it happens IN winter. Crops, livestock, trees, grass, animal life, other nature things start to have negative reactions to these changes. Ultimately the cost of food goes up because there are issues with the crops and livestock being produced. But Twinkies will still be there when you go to the grocery store, so no worries.

Plus there’s always sea food. Fish live in these thing called oceans, which now have slightly changed currents and fresh-to-salt water ratio adjustments… They also have occasional oil spills. And there is sometimes coral bleaching. And occasionally sea creatures are “harvested” in mass amounts. But you’re not supposed to be eating that much fish anyway. They have mercury issues…

The world is suffering and will continue to do so. As time goes on the conditions will get worse –especially when plagues come, beloved species of animals become extinct, food shortages become an issue, water becomes scarcer… it will be bad. Wars will be inevitable. Mass death will become an everyday occurrence.

Some people are in doubt and denial about this. Some are worried sick. Some are generally concerned, but won’t do much. A few people will destroy the planet further –especially people and corporations who seek to gain without worrying about the costs it will be to others. A few other people will go out of their way dedicating their lives to understanding the world and relieving it of its problems. But the majority of people will acknowledge the world’s issues and occasionally feel inspired to donate money and recycle when they feel like it.

The problems with the world were caused by extensive acts over a long period of time. Small acts, even if done by a lot of people, will only lessen the problems, not solve them. And people are procrastinators by nature meaning when it gets to a dangerous level and the world is on the brink, then people will finally start to try and change things. But at that point they will only achieve the decisive action of change –not the time required to make it ultimately effective. And at that point, time may run out altogether.

Man cannot create the tree. He can plant a seed in the grown. He can tear the tree down. But man cannot create the tree. If the tree is gone, only the Creator of the World can bring it back.

  1. This place is doomed for destruction --- but Bible says that this place will be a great place to live right up until the End. We'll study it.

We will never destroy the world because God has that job for himself --- but that doesn't mean we can't make it better or worse for us until it happens.

I do think a lot of the worry about trees and seasons and snow and ozones is a bit much --- We need to understand that God is in full control of this place and gave us no earth so fragile that we can break it. God doesn't make crap.

-But if humans keep destroying the planet to the extent that they are there will be less of it to enjoy, harsher environments to endure, and greater death tolls.

From what I've learned of life, when it nears the end it is ugliest and most pinful. Frowing old isn't great, you're body starts to die and pain sets in. The earth will end the same. It will be easier to part with the earth when it is no longer needed and people can finally see they are better without because there is a better place to go.

  3. I told you --- Bible said that people will be having a great life right up until the end when God Himself destroys it. We all assume that things will deteriorate and the world will go nuts and people will drop nuclear bombs and folks will run naked in the streets and cats will be born with three eyes etc etc etc...

...in reality everything will be cozy and great and wonderful when the end comes.

Trust God and don't waste your energy on worrying about such things. =)

  4. Then why does everyone say everything will turn to crap before it ends???

  5. Because that's how humans think.

"You only throw something out once it gets worn out and shoddy."

That's not how God thinks. Bible said it would happen just as it did before the great flood (which we'll read about after John) --- everyone was doing great and living life to the fullest just before the end came.

God wants us to follow Him out of free will, even when things are going great. If the world got really bad before the end, people would follow Him only because things are going bad and they need help --- not out of free, decisive love.

I'm not saying God's going to end the planetbecause the world starts to fail, I'm saying the planet will start to die and be misused by people and that is why God will finally step in. It's one thing for humans to mess up and mess up over and over, but to ruin the entrie planet is something else. And I like how you describe everything as Hunky Dory until the GREAT FLOOD came. They had warnings about the flood too and nobody listened. We have warnings about the world getting worse environmentally and nobody is listening,

  7. God is going to step in at His set time whether or not we take care of the world or not, Jess. It doesn't matter if this place is a Utopia or a junkyard. We humans will not make His end come quicker or slower by our actions.

  8. Seems my reply didn't go through the first time. ><

Jess, Doe ---- the world will end at the time God has set long beforehand, whether the environment is great or not. How we treat the earth has NOTHING to do with when God ends the world.
