"Feminist" Post: Part 2

 Found a great article on the whole Hobby Lobby -Christianity -Women's Rights issue.

Basically the article argues the difference between being "Biblical" and being "Christian". Which in my mind is also the difference that I feel confused by with regard to Judaism. It is this principle: 

In the OLD Testament, the laws handed down by God were with regard to Israelite life in those times. 

In the NEW Testament Jesus came and fulfilled the need of ALL people by dying for their sins. Christ changed everything. 

That's why it is so confusing why Christians refer back to the OLD Testament so many times instead of Christ. 

OLD Testament = Death by Stoning 

NEW Testament = Forgive People for their Sins because Christ died for Everyone 

 And in modern times, especially since the context is often forgotten when the Bible is quoted (both the original context and the current social climate), we have new issues to consider like Healthcare, Women's Rights, Corporations, Laws, Numerous Religions... 

Here's a tweet that kind of articulates the point:

This is why a lot of people avoid religion. They think it leads to convoluted notions that then detract from the lives of good people. 

It's supposed to be a narrow path -not a narrow mind. 

The other problem that comes up frequently is the notion that religion needs to be ENFORCED. 

Ultimately if a person is following God, then that person will ultimately wind up where they're meant to -as will those who act against God. God does NOT need to be made into law. 

It reminds me of something I saw recently that visually articulates this point: 

Yah this exists. 

You can go out of your way to try and control the lives of others for the rest of their lives so they do "as they're supposed to", but at some point you have to acknowledge the fact that you're going against God's Will to give men the Free Will to act on their own God-given autonomy.
