Promptsies!

1. Will there ever be a new American president that is loved and adored by the majority of both parties? If so, what kind of qualities must this man or woman have?

2. Is there ever a place for revenge?

3. What is love?

1. NO. By virtue of the position -a leader- a president must be open to criticism and will receive both praise and criticism. As recently seen in Gangs of New York -even Abraham Lincoln who most people champion as one of the greatest presidents ever was hated in his own time by a large group of people. I imagine George Washington had his haters as well, though most supported him. Never has there been a president that wasn't hated by a group of people during his time of office, nor after. There will never be a president that isn't mocked or criticised relentlessly by either the democratic or republican party. The only hope is that over time as the effects of that individuals presidency is made more clear, they can grow to become appreciated by everyone because of the contributions they made to society at the time. But most leaders have to make tough decisions that not everyone will agree with or like at the time. If a leader tries to please everyone, he will please  one. It's about doing what's right even when people hate you and call you wrong. The best America can hope for isn't a leader that everyone will love, but a leader who will do what is needed to make the country run better.

2. Revengance. It's like drinking poison to see somebody else hurt. Yes you may feel "accomplished" or "victorious" in getting revenge -and some people out there need to be held accountable for their crimes- but revenge will pollute the person who gets it. You can use the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as an example of this. Her revenge seemed justified, but ultimately she became an angry vengeful person. Her hate twisted her and removed her from compassion. Hate begets hate. Violence begets violence. And when does it end? It is always harder to forgive and let go then to seek revenge. That's how you know forgiveness is worth doing. If it was easy everyone would do it. Which is why so many people die from "revenge". There are Muslims who kill people for revenge against them for not submitting to heir religion. When people are allowed to make their own calls for what is worthy of revenge -people die. People get hurt and people get killed. Revenge is dangerous. People can lose their souls to it taking the lives of others for it.

3. What is love? I recently read a blog talking about Love and when I asked myself what it is to me, my first thought was: "Love makes you see. It is the eyes of your soul. Love makes you understand."
It is true. Two enemies who are hand cuffed together and spend 5 years on a deserted island will become the best of friends eventually. Love allows you to see people, situations, and life through the eyes of compassion and patience. It allows you to know things that would not otherwise be understood and it gives you knowledge that could not otherwise be found. Love breathes wisdom. It comes in too many forms to count.

What I've found with people through the Zodiac signs is that they choose which kind of love they want most in their lives. This boils down to: Friendship, Romance, Family, or Compassion.

I aim more towards Compassion then Family/Friends.
My parents Aim more towards Family then Romance.
My sister aims more towards Romance then Family.

It just depends on the person. No kind of love is wrong or right, although I will say that in my somewhat bias opinion that Compassion -love of fellow man- is the greatest form of love because it is easy to love a blood relative or someone who's a friend, but to love a misunderstood stranger just for being human takes a lot of heart.

I was driving down the road yesterday and looked over an bridge down at the traffic below. I thought, "I love these people. But they sure don't make it easy."

  1. 1. You make good points. Looking back in history, we study up on these great leaders and it's a shock to realize that these men had haters.

So yes, I agree that no matter who you are, you will have people who don't like you.

However, I'd like to believe that there can be the kind of leader that is liked by a large majority. Somebody who goes out of his way to make peace on the two sides.

I believe we've had leaders like that. I believe George Washington was such a man. I believe we can have that again.

    2. Agreed. Fully. I believe the gov't has the right to enact "vengeance" however...to "avenge" wrong done against herself and her people.

    3. " I thought, "I love these people. But they sure don't make it easy.""

--- Keep this. Grow it. Act on it.
