Lions/Water/Humbleness

These are the themes for my friend's speech tomorrow.

Lions

When people mention an animal in a speech they are more interested in what the animal represents than what it's biological or realistic life is like. So I guess the place to start is with the Symbol.

Lions represent Poise, Courage, Leadership, Stamina, The Golden Sun, Pride, and occasionally Rage. The best known Symbol of Personification of a Lion is the Zodiac's Leo. A Leo is Charming, Outgoing, Independent, a Natural Leader, Stubborn/ Grounded, Focused, Convivial, Compassionate, Trusting, Idealistic, Positive, Persuasive, Artistic, Patient, Spiritual, and Enjoys Luxury. The downsides of a Leo are that they can be vain/materialistic and can demand or expect too much of their followers. They crave Attention.

Jesus was compared with both a Lamb and a Lion. Lamb representing something innocent, peaceful, calm, and sacrificial. Lion representing Compassionate Anger. Lion has that hard edge like a stone wall people run into. People see a Leader's anger as momentarily frightening, but ultimately appropriate. People trust in a leader to know how to guide and when there is a problem and people aren't doing as they should or are presenting a challenge in some way, a Leader has the right and the respect of his followers to address the issues, sometimes aggressively.

Water

So what does Water represent?
Water is
1. Clear
2. Reflective
3. Ever Changing (Not just from its movement and color, but also Evaporation and Codensation)
4. Versatile (Solid-Liquid-Gas)
5. Deep
6. Pulled by Unseen Forces
7. Pure
8. Necessary for almost all forms of Life

Water has a lot of strength and force behind it and yet it can pass easily through and around things without a whisper. It is mysterious and unpredictable. Air, Fire, and Water are the elements that we have the least control over and we Need to have in the right amounts to enjoy are lives and function properly; but too much or too little of these substances can destroy us.

Humbleness

So things walk beside Humility to give it the Balance it needs to avoid falling into Arrogance and Pride.

One is Respect. Respect for yourself and Respect for others keeps you on equal par with everyone and everything we share this existence with.

The other is Grace. The Grace to Let Go of Pride and Ego. Most cling to them trying to cover their flaws and insecurities instead of fixing them. Grace allows them the Honesty of just Being. You can be flawed and imperfect and not wand around humiliated and degraded by that fact. In some ways, acknowledging flaws gives you a new found sense of Freedom and is the first step in overcoming them. Being humble means realizing you are not currently perfect and that you still have lessons to learn. Therefore you are open and able to learn those new lessons and grow to
Perfection.

Being Humble is important in this life because it allows you to accept failure. People mistake Failure -which is inevitable - as Defeat. Those who are Humble see Failure for what it truly is - A lesson of Growth to find a way to Succeed. Humility allows people to overcome obstacles, not be crushed by them.

Humility als allows us to connect with people. Ego/Pride/Arrogance are walls people build to keep others out. This creates distance and separation. God is Unity. We are One Nation. Humility allows us to tear those walls down so we can embrace ourselves in others. We all Need Humbleness.

  1. 1/3 this week in terms of resonance with what I actually spoke about...although nothing you said here I disagree with.

What's interesting about a lion is that the devil is compared to one as well --- in that he is always trying to devour and destroy God's creation.

I bet you don't believe in the devil, do you? =)

Water ---- you missed one very important aspect of water --- it cleans!!!! It cleans physically, and it cleans spiritually in baptism.

You're totally with me on humbleness; Some people think that they are so evil, can't forgive them. But this is the very reason why Jesus came. It is actually very conceited to think that we are too bad for God's power.

  2. I saod water is pure. It was implied that it cleans and washes away.

As for the lion and water, couldn't really focus on what to say specifically about them.

Devil is snake. And I hope you were being sarcastic about saying you don't think i believe he exists. I acknowledge The devil and demons exist. Frightening sh*t no one should mess with. Kind of like a poisonous snake someone comes across.

  3. Oh wait yes I remember you do believe in the devil...

Somehow, that doesn't seem to fit in my roadmap of your mind...

    *frown*

  4. My mind is exapnsive. If ever you stop to wonder, "I wonder if Jessica believes in ..." the answer is probably yes. It's not that I'm more gullible, my mind is intellectually secure, it's just that I can more readily accept things i know to be true whereas others would doubt just because their minds had resistance to the truth, even if they new it was truth.

  5. O.K. Then who is the devil to you? What is your definition of the devil? He seems to be too solid an evil for you to truly believe in.

  6. "He seems to be too solid an evil for you to truly believe in."

Too solid an evil? This statement bothers/ troubles me.

Either your saying the devil seems too real to be something for me to possibly believe in since I'm so prone to believing in imaginary things like "ghosts" which couldn'tpossibly exist...

Or I'm too naive when it comes to the severity of evil inhabited by the devil since I seem to take no issue with Harry Potter.

Either interpretation brings up 2 of our topics that usually lead to arguments. I'll just skip to the part where I state my beliefs concerning the devil.

The Devil is Lucifer/Satan/Lord of Darkness and Evil. He was an angel until he fell. Satan wants to destroy God's creations -a.k.a. Us- because he is jealous of man and the attention God gives to them. I think he thinks we're unworthy.

The Devil seeks to corrupt man and take him to hell through various vices and levels of manipulation -the most frequently used of course being Distraction by pleasure.

These are just the details though. The Devil for all he means to the common laymen, is a being of great and immense Hatred and Violence. He's kind of like the soul-embodyment of Darkness the way that God is the soul emboyment of Light. In other words -he's a force to be avoided.

Then there are Demons -the minions of Satan. I'm not sure if man can be corrupted into becoming a demon, but I've heard of similar things to that happening. Demons are the entities people usually run into when they are stupid and misuse "dark arts" be it witchcraft or quiji board. Nothing good comes from coming near or in contact with a demon. It's kind of like being diagnosed with spiritual cancer.

Then there are people who believe demons are also in our heads. I believe a demon can possess a body, which is extremely extremely rare, but they can't just possess our thoughts on a daily miniscule basis. That's just a scape goat for people blaming thir impure thoughts on forces they make up. Real demons are far more destructive.

  7. The reason this seem inconsistent with your spoken theology is because

    1. You stated Sunday night that there is no evil/good, just different viewpoints.

    2. In order for you to believe in something which defines evil, you'd have to believe in something that defines good. In order to defend yourself against evil, you'd have to believe and stand for a good.

Standing for somethings means you taking a firm position in something, but I don't see much of that in you.

In other words --- if you believe the devil is truly out to destroy you, do you truly have the means to stand up against him? Or do you just hope you escape his notice?

P.S. I don't mind arguing with you. I just don't like name-calling. When that happens, I feel the need to take a break because last thing I want to do is hurt you. But if we argue out of respect, then hey, I'll discuss anything.

  8. 1."You stated Sunday night that there is no evil/good, just different viewpoints"

-When the heck did I say that? If I did say that I'm sure it was in a certain context. The 100% certain evil of the world and beyond is Satan/Satanism/Demons. And then there are people who commit evil acts.

2."In other words -if you believe the devil is truly out to destroy you, do you truly have the means to stand up against him? Or do you just hope you escape his notice?"

-Didn't I write a blog about this? Must check...

  9. Acknolwedgement of Demons and Hell is actually something that re-affirmed by faith in Heaven/ Angels because as you said, one can't exist without the other.

    ReplyDelete
  10. You may have forgotten you saying that, but you did...but ok. I can't make that up. Perhaps you were merely repeating a well-known saying, not that you actually believe in it. I'll take this as your official statement of faith. =)

    Demon-possession...

...we'll talk more about that one day. Hollywood/folklore/fantasy/old-wives tales/mythology says one thing about the subject.

    The Bible says another.

  11. There's actually a ton about demonology to go through --- we will.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I have a feeling our notions of demonology will be different. Pray we do now get into an argument over evil/the devil. Harry potter/ghosts/aliens is one thing -Arguing over Evil just seems way to wrong in an ironic sort of way.

    ReplyDelete
  13. *"Not" -not "now"

    This thing needs spell chek...

    ReplyDelete
  14. Originally, I think we argued for the ideal of trying to be in agreement. If we keep that ideal, with respect, there's nothing wrong with us "arguing". You and I met for a reason, and I know that it's because we are to help one another find, as you would write, "Truth".

    P.S. I don't believe the Harry Potter/ghosts/alien discussion is over...it's merely "postponed" upon further life experience/revelation. =)
