Soul Mates

“And when two such people encounter each other, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one’s dreams would have no meaning.” Paulo Coelho The Alchemist

Little known fact, in Spanish the literal translation for "soul mate" is "media naranja" -which means "the other half of one orange".

As sweet/ random as that is, the question still needs to be asked: Do soul mates exist? In my opinion the answer is yes, but not in the typical way.

There are currently 6 billion people living on this planet. How cruel would it be if only 1 out of that 6 billion was the perfect match for you? How the heck would you find that person??? The statistics on that one would say, "100% of My Condolences". Thankfully, that's not the way the system works.

People are complex. When they find someone to have a relationship with, there are certain areas that compliment each other within each person, and then there are areas that don't. For instance, you may find two people who are compassionate, but maybe one likes cleanliness above all else and the other is sloppy. The point is to find someone who has a greater number of qualities equal to your own -or qualities you don't necessarily possess but need in a good mate -than a greater number of dissimilarities -especially ones you have a harder time coping with or accepting. For instance, I don't care how well a guy I'm dating might match up to me and be well suited -if he shows tendencies towards violence on any level I'm out of there.

This is why it is important to get to know the person you are interested in Before you commit to dating him/her. And some people might be disappointed that there isn't a real possibility in finding that "perfect soul mate" right off the bat, but it's actually a great thing when you really think about it.

If you did find your perfect soul mate, and you fell in love instantly, and there were no issues between you to work out, and everything was running smoothly and it seemed like you were perfectly fitted -what makes you think things would work out ultimately? Things that come that freely and don't have to be worked for are always taken for granted. They are never fully appreciated. You would accept this kind of love as a given and never really experience the beauty of Creating Love.

Love can come freely, but it is always something you have to work at over time. People always want the easy route -to find someone who's already custom fit to suite their needs. The point is to find someone who isn't a perfect fit and work towards making yourselves compatible with each other in the relationship when you've committed to it. Yes you may have to change a little, but it's to take care of your partner's needs because you love your mate. You need to find someone who loves and accepts you for who you are and you love and accept your mate for who he/she is. Then changing won't really be "changing" -it will be adjusting to support the person you're in love with.

Soul mates aren't found, they are Made. You find a mate and start seeing that person and trying to understand and love them for who they are. Once you and that person are in love they Become the mate to your heart. When you decide that is the person you want to commit your love to entirely, then they become the mate to your Soul.

  1. See, now this is 100% logic and I completely agree with it. You come from a broken home like myself and so I too came to the same conclusions regarding "soul mates" and people "meant to be".

What I find extremely interesting is you noting the 6 billion people on the planet as part of your proof argument. I think if you applied that same reasoning (counting not only how many people are on the planet now, but can you IMAGINE how many people ever existed?), you'd come to some challenging conclusions regarding ghosts and reincarnation.

  2. I knew someone who raised that concern. They said, "if there are more people on the planet now, how can that be if there's reincarnation". I said, "You'reforgetting animals. They're dying off pretty numerously. And children in Africa, and people in wars. Trust me, plentyof en-souled eings are dying".

Nature is always in balance. The more you take, the more that gets taken away.

  3. Still, if there are more and more humans in the world, it would imply that souls are getting more and more moral, the earth getting more and more virtuous, since to achieve the state of human is higher than that of an animal, yes?

    ...speaking from a reincarnation POV.

  4. True. But then again, it might be because these animals are sacrificed on a large scale by man with little regard by Humanity, so they may become humans because of that disrespect given to them rather than because they went out of their way to be virtous animals.

  5. That's an odd reward...to be turned into the very evil thing that caused your death. I would think it would be much more rewarding to be transformed to a higher being than human upon death.

And if these animals are turned into human in order to change the world to a better place and reverse its course, these animals are failing in their mission and doing exactly what killed them.

  6. They're babies right now being born as we speak. Though I suppose since the issue of environment first started being noticed most was in the 70s they're somewhere between the age of 30 to baby. It would explain why the younger generation today is taking the environment more serious than they have before.

And even thoe that don't -it's not like they'd remember being a former animal.
