Updated Food Pyramid

For those who don't know:

At this point we acknowledge the food we eat needs to be healthy and organic, but how do we know what kinds of foods to eat and in what amount? Introducing: The Updated Food Pyramid. If you’re wondering what happened to the old pyramid system, well funny story, the largest portion of that pyramid was dedicated to bread, rice, and pasta- which was recently found to be a primary cause of diabetes. Woops. So they went back and changed some things to help make guidelines for eating food a little healthier. The largest portion of the pyramid is now dedicated to Exercise. For pictorial clarification, those are not tubes of toothpaste.

The next level of the food pyramid is dedicated to whole grains and unsaturated fats from plant oils. It is important to make sure when you get “wheat bread” that it be whole grain wheat bread. Whole grains help your cardiovascular system and decrease the risk for diabetes.
On the next layer we have our fruits and veggies. These help with your blood, heart, eyes, and digestive system. It is also important to note: Potatoes are not a vegetable.  When they say veggie, they mean Dark, Leafy Greens –not French Fries.
The next level is for Nuts, Legumes, Beans, and Tofu. These help lower bad cholesterol, while raising good cholesterol. They include almonds, fish oil, navy beans, black beans, pistachios, and so on. These are very important because as time goes by the heart starts to crack and bad cholesterol can block arteries. These nuts help lubricate the heart and keep it healthy.
As we get closer to the top it is important to remember that the foods at the top need to be in smaller, less frequently consumed portions. This is the Fish, Poultry, Eggs, and Protein layer. Without protein your immune system becomes weak as do your heart and respiratory systems. Eat as much protein as you can. But a good tip to remember is no to eat things that are fried, and not to eat chicken skin. It’s unhealthy.
Dairy is an issue. Dairy products come from cows. Most cows are now raised in corporate farms. They are shot up with growth hormones and lots of other things that can actually deplete and kill good bacteria in milk to get rid of the bad bacteria. Your milk then becomes empty and unhealthy. They say a glass of whole milk is equal to 13 strips of bacon. Avoid whole milk –go for low-fat or non-fat dairy products.
The last level is for red meat, sweets, that rice, bread, and pasta, and your potatoes. Use very sparingly.
No governement. What is this? It's supposed to be a Pyramid. We stole democracy from the Greeks, our language from Britain, and our food structuring from Egypt.
